A local TV anchor has been off the air nursing a broken heart after Phil Collins ended their 10-year-relationship, according to a report.

Dana Tyler, a beloved journalist for New York's WCBS, has not read the news since February after the 65-year-old musician dumped her to reconcile with his ex-wife, Orianne Cevey.

The 57-year-old first took time off last year after the pair broke up, and then posted a message to fans on Facebook.

She wrote on February 9: 'Many of you have noticed that I have not been anchoring the 6 p.m. news the past few nights.

'I am taking some time off and will return soon. I look forward to seeing you when I get back.'

A source close to Tyler told the New York Daily New's Confidenti@l:  'Dana’s been trying to put her life back together.

'She and Phil were a couple for around 10 years — and then he pulled the rug out from under her.'

Tyler also told the newspaper: 'I have taken the last three months off for personal reasons and I look forward to returning to WCBS-TV within the next month.' 

Her co-anchor, Maurice DuBois, tells viewers before the nightly broadcast: 'Dana Tyler is off tonight.'

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday in March, Cevey said her and Collins - who got divorced eight years ago - are deeply in love again.

‘It’s different this time,’ she said. ‘When you first fall in love there is passion and excitement. But the second time around it’s more thoughtful, more mature.

‘You’ve both thought about it for so many years, you’ve missed each other, you’ve come to the realisation that this is the right place to be and this is the person you truly love. It’s more profound, a deeper connection.

Orianne, 43, added that she blames undiagnosed post-natal depression for causing the initial split from Phil – and how a crippling illness left her with suicidal thoughts.

Despite their split in 2006, and their divorce in 2008, they stayed close. Collins even bought a home nearby so he could stay close to his two sons.

She married banker Charles Mejjati in 2008, and is now in the middle of a divorce with him.
