Reece James' adorable throwback snap with sister and Lionesses goalscorer Lauren

Reece James has shared his pride for Lioness sister Lauren James with an adorable throwback snap.

The elder of the fan favourite Chelsea siblings took to social media to share a photo of their pair playing football together as kids after Lauren fired home England's winning goal against Denmark on her first ever World Cup start.

The 21-year-old was named player of the match after scoring the only goal for Sarina Wiegman's side and no one was prouder than brother Reece, who was watching on from the United States with his team-mates.

The snap had the caption: "Proud." Bringing in thousands of likes in a matter of minutes with the 23-year-old hailing his sister for his impact Down Under.

James' goal puts England on six points from two games in Group D with China up next on Tuesday (August 1).

The start for the forward came after she came off the bench in the first game against Haiti - and it didn't take long for her to impress.

James gave the right-side of the Denmark defence plenty to think about as she showed off her dribbling ability - with her goal coming from range.

Cutting into the middle of the pitch on her right foot, James bent a shot past a despairing Lene Christensen.

England's win may have been marred by what looked to be a serious knee injury suffered by Keira Walsh, but James' goal will be remembered for a long time.

James told BBC Sport: "It was a dream and something I've been thinking about but most importantly I'm happy to help us win.

"I kind of had a thought and then as soon as it hit the net it was just relief."

"His advice was just to enjoy it [the World Cup], have fun, try and score goals."

Reece has said in the past of her ability: "She’s technically better than some Prem players."
